Before the days of iphone apps tents were still found... So festival season is upon us once again! Sunshine, wellies, red noses, warm cider fuzziness and for those more hardcore than ‘girly day event’ me, your trusty tents. For those of you in possession of an iPhone – your prayers may well have been answered. The most latest and greatest iPhone app? The TentFinder! Yes ladies and gents, using the latest GPS technology you can simply load the app when next to your tent and apply a ‘GPS stamp’. Bosh. Your virtual compass, with a handy built in torch, will then guide you (in my case it would be unsteadily) back to your beloved, much needed, tent.

I feel it's my duty at this point to also mention the Glastonbury iPhone app – now this is the serious stuff. Yawn. I’ll make it quick. This takes it to a whole new level. Ok, I admit it, being able to see each stage and the acts listed is handy. Yet to ‘schedule’ the acts you want to see in an organizer has well and truly got my goat. It’s a festival! Staggering from one tent to the next, trying to work out which tents you are actually in, stumbling across some random act you never intended on seeing and being blown away is the essence of festival! The thing that then kicks ten bells out of my aforementioned ‘gotten’ goat is being able to connect to iTunes and buy the music. Isn’t the following jaded week at work, in between facebook tagging of course, exactly when this is meant to be done?

Ok, that wasn’t quick, but back to the tent app. My favourite bit has to be determining the nearest source of a pint. Which is the nearest bar? Voila! Or even toilets. My only criticism is it can’t measure the length of the queues at each place for you. There’s something for you techies to work on. Oh and one more spanner – charging the blessed iPhone….

Enjoy peeps!

Justin Timberlake brought “Sexy” back.
Noir is bringing “Disco” back.
This one is impossible to resist. Takes you back and still sounds extremely fresh. What a hot joint.

The Original mix of this monster is a powerful tech house tune – hitting a vibe right between Anton Pieete & Ramon Tapia. This one only has slight hints of disco and keeps things cool, exciting, groovy and underground-ish all the way.

The Studio 54 Mix builds from the same elements – but on this piece the disco feel is much more present. This takes you straight back to the discohouse of the good old days with Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden & the whole Defected/Subliminal crew.

The perfect 2 tracker nothing less. Disco is back – Burn baby, burn!

Pete Tong called it a ‘monster tune’ last friday. I’ve been saying it’s going to be MASSIVE since I first heard it. Now here we are, with just over a week until it’s released on beatport…. happy happy HAPPY days!!! Oh, and pretty soon we’ll be able to talk more about a damn fine Chris Lake remix too!

Hello again everybody! Hope you all had a great weekend. Here's a track that's been out a little while but is an absolute stormer, the breakdown takes the word epic to new heights! Studio Apartment – I'm In Love feat. Ron Carroll – Rasmus Faber Epic Instrumental. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do :-)   Till next time…

This app is ACE! I started using Tweetdeck a few months ago on my laptop, and twitteriffic on the iphone, the latter of which I found to be a tad fiddly, hence not really using it too much. But, and I'm aware I may sound like something of an advertisement… now that I have tweetdeck on my phone, I think I'll use it all the time! It's just so easy to navigate and communicate with other twitterfolk…. end of commercial!

Here's the first YouTube review I came across… check it out Scottish style!

Da slick artwork Rene Amesz is back with a bang with this excellent
single on
Rising Music. Rene is at his best on this sleazy, low down dirty slab
of tech house. His characteristic beats slide along underneath a filthy
bassline and mesmerizing vocal loop. Plenty of soaring synths keep this track
building and building the whole way through.

An
essential track for every main room from London to Sydney.
If you like the sound of it you can pick it up legally from here.

Listen:

Hey peeps. Grabbed this piece from our friends at Beatportal this morning. Richie talks tunes, and all the usual stuff, but if you head to about 6mins50secs you'll hear arguably one of the best dancefloor tracks…EVER! Only in my humble opinion of course.

Sydney op Well here at the rising team we all love a good music festival, as you can imagine, many of us live for them. So following a phone call from a good friend down under this morning I was informed not only of her health, the weather and plans for the weekend but a different kind of festival. The purpose of the call was to tell me the Opera House was lit up in leopard print and she thought I would like it. Before anyone says it – no, I do not wear leopard print, but rather have a like of random things. So she was right.

Convict ship Upon further research I discovered Vivid Sydney, a festival of music light and ideas. If I was in Sydney right now? I think I'd kick off my weekend by heading down to The Rocks where, with lights, the recreation of a convict ship in 1814 bursting into flames will take place. Quite suitably random. Ah Mr Lake, if only you could have stayed on an extra week…..
